Many of my pieces in this show were inspired by British artist Annabel Keatley whose workshop here in Maine last summer rekindled my interest in paper making and all the possibilities for creativity that lie within that particular art form.
I have always loved exploring texture and I confess that this current work with handmade paper is a kind of guilty pleasure — a very child-like kind of fun — getting your hands messy with all that pulp and mixing things up in it not knowing what the final result will be. At this moment in time that seems void of it, this kind of experimentation and discovery has brought me great joy.
I am joined in this unique little exhibition by a very talented trio of fellow artists working in a variety of media: Donna Strawser, Elizabeth Caton Pardoe and Kath Beauregard. If you have a chance to see the show in person, I hope you enjoy their work as much as I do.
(All works are framed and/or appropriately mounted. If you are interested in something you see here, please contact the gallery.)
